Google provides a nifty solution to trace the lost Android Phone. This can be a singular manner of tracing, lockup and erasing sensitive data on your missing Android Phone.

Generally, everyone faces the below scenarios in life.

  • Is your phone lost or stealing by someone?
  • Are you powerless to trace it?
  • Are you worried about your important data on the phone?
  • Are you worried about the leak of your personal details?

For all the above queries, there is one solution that Google provides through its "Find My Device" feature on Android Mobiles. This way you can find, lock and erase an android phone remotely if following conditions are met.

Conditions for using this facility

Mobile App Condition
  • The first & foremost condition is that Your phone must be “ON”.
  • You must be signed in to Google Account. This means that you have to be log in your Gmail A/c.
  • Your phone should be connected to Mobile Data or Wi-Fi.  This means that this feature only works when the phone is connected to Wi-Fi or Mobile Data.
  • Your phone should be visible on Google Play.  Ensure that this option should be turned on. Check the settings on www.play.google.com 
  • Your Location should be turned “On”. Check this option under  Settings >> security & location>> privacy menu. 
  • Find my device should be turned “On” This means that check your phone setting >>Security & Location tab; turn it "On", if it is set off.

If the above conditions fulfilled or met successfully then you can limit the access to your phone and erase sensitive data, Display Emergency Message etc. immediately.  

How to use the Find My Device Facility?

Just search for "Find My Device" in Google and Log in your A/c to use the following option.

Play Sound 


Play Sound
Using this facility, you can give a ring on your phone even if it is on silent mode. The phone will ring continuously for up to 5 minutes and you can easily locate the phone if you forget it somewhere.

Secure Device 

This way you can place a message and contact number on your device display screen. In case if anyone gets the mobile can contact you after reading that message. Also, you can activate your password to lock the device.

Erase Device

ERASE DEVICE

Using this option you can erase your sensitive data remotely. Once using this facility, you cannot locate your device. Also, do not use this option in case you have forgotten to put your phone somewhere in the house.  

This is the only way to protect your sensitive data but there is no guarantee of retrieving your lost phone. These are the precautionary steps to protect your data going in the hands of miscreants.
